Stuck on Rewind

“Re” is a hapless term in regards to political leaders relying on it to find a “good old time” in America’s constitutional and institutional past in order to build a forward-future.

America’s ethnic groups, especially African Americans, European Americans and Native Americans, have not had a good time together in America.

European Americans need to come to grips with the fact that when they refer to “Renewing” or “Reinventing” America, the African-American Family cannot recall those good times and cannot join these leaders in going into the future on the same page.

With no common memory that links America’s ethnic groups to a common and happy past, all there is left to do is to execute the imagination forces and go from there with a blueprint for the dawn of a common and happy future.

This is the Memphis opportunity to lead.

  1. Hi Dr. Ajanaku...
I also am from Memphis and recall a time when things were quite different than they are now. I agree also that we must begin anew as a society as well as a city. Our city has grown in many ways, yet the morale is low, I believe, because our leader's values are low. Maybe our citizens believe in that old adage "better the devil you know" but we are stagnant and need new blood in our city's government.
I hope to see more posts from you...
    Peace.
